Specialty: Side Mount Diver

contact

Side-mount diving is the process of taking one or two cylinders and placing them on either side of your body, rather than mounting them on your back.

Side-Mount Diving offers many advantages over back mount.  Among these advantages is the fact that the diver doesn’t have to lug around heavy double steel cylinders on his/her back. This is a huge advantage when the water is far from the parking lot. However, there is more to it than just simply moving the tanks from your back to your sides.  Among the skills exclusive to side-mount is gas management. Because the cylinders are not connected by a manifold the diver must pay close attention to gas management.

Technical diving is marked by significantly more equipment and training requirements to manage the additional hazard this type of diving entails. Tec diving isn’t for everyone, but for those who hear its challenge call, the PADI TecRec courses are the answer.
