Instructor Development

Our Scuba Instructor Development process will take you from Divemaster to Assistant Instructor, then to Open Water Instructor.

We conduct several Instructor Development Courses (IDCs) throughout the year.  Each is scheduled to coincide with several PADI Instructor Exams (IEs) in the general area.

Additionally, we conduct IDCs as necessary to meet demand so please call or email to discuss getting you enrolled in a course that fits your schedule.

Assistant Instructor is the first step towards teaching people to dive. You’ll learn how to teach and aid instructors with their classes.

As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional scuba diver, but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities.

After completing the Assistant Instructor course, you’ll move on to becoming a full-fledged Open Water Dive Instructor!

The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is one of two distinct components of PADI’s Instructor Development Course (IDC) the core of PADI Instructor training. The first portion is the Assistant Instructor course followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor program. The OWSI program is a minimum of four days. It introduces you to the entire PADI System of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator.
