“My husband’s favorite thing to hear on vacation at 4:00 am….”Let’s go diving!” Oh yea, RIGHT!”

Karen shares a passion for scuba diving & scuba instruction with her husband Lenny. In addition to being a highly skilled diver and instructor Karen has a passion for underwater photography.

In Karen’s own words:

I love the ocean!  Even though growing up in Southern California allowed me to experience many water sports, including Scuba, I never got “certified” till I moved to the Kansas City area.

My husband & I decided to get “certified” so we could dive while honeymooning in St. Lucia.  We looked around the area and choose Sam’s Skin n Scuba for our dive training. We returned from that trip totally pumped about Scuba and decided we wanted to continue our education and have been hooked ever since! Now my husband Lenny and I are both Instructors and are still continuing our scuba education.

I love everything about diving! Fact is I would rather be diving than just about anything else. I love the personal challenge to improve, the pursuit of more advanced diving opportunities & the serenity I find in the beauty of the underwater world.  However, mostly I love the fantastic people I have met both around the dive shop and while on dive vacations around the world and of course the time I spend with my husband.

I love teaching scuba because of the excitement my student’s experience the first time they are actually underwater breathing from a scuba regulator. Teaching scuba also allows me the opportunity to help some people overcome fears, insecurity or apprehension they may have about being underwater.  I continue to stay connected to my students and love to hear about their dive experiences and of course I love to travel the world with them.

Among my favorite dive destinations is The Wild Side of Bonaire!! It’s some work to get there but after the exhilarating military style Zodiac boat ride and a backward roll entry into the water, you will see beautiful unspoiled scenery, tons of turtles and eagle rays.
